Job Description:

UNICEF GSSC is looking for talented professionals who are interested in upcoming posts in Payroll Section. Successful candidates would be assigned to the Talent Pool and could be considered for future openings. The main deliverable of the Senior HR Associates is to support the timely and accurate processing of monthly payrolls and process entitlements for assigned pay areas.

UNICEF’s Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.

GSSC has won the 2019 Business Services Firm of the Year in Hungary, one of 26 regional awards announced at the Central and Eastern European Business Services Summit & Awards held in Warsaw, Poland.

This will involve…

1. Generate, analyze payroll-related reports and process monthly payroll

  •  Senior HR Associates generate and review comparison reports, payroll simulations, net pay and bank record validation reports for assigned pay areas including IPs.
  • Review and validate variances appearing in the payroll reports.
  • Review exceptions and follow up with HR admin to ensure that necessary corrective actions are taken on time.
  •  Senior HR Associates verify consistency of salary data i.e. salary scales including dependency allowances, post adjustment, insurance rates, danger pay by comparing them to rates officially published by ICSC or the UN insurance.
  • Review the funding analysis reports and liaise with country offices in resolving the funding issues. Provide advice on corrective actions following analytical review of the funding errors.

2. Act as subject matter expert for queries related to payroll issues

  •  Senior HR Associates provide estimates on final entitlements and separations including bridging to retirement cases.
  • Support the delivery and implementation of HR entitlements and benefits by testing fixes when necessary.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to incoming team members on payroll process and systems.
  •  Senior HR Associates review and respond to concerns of vendors and staff on matters related to payroll.
  • Participate in system testing for salary scales changes and other system related changes.

3. Review and process rental and salary advances

  • Verify eligibility, completeness of documentation, payment methods and process them in the system as per the established procedure.

4. Review and approve separation payments for local staff

  • Verify eligibility and the calculation of final entitlements.
  • Check completeness of documents and follow up with HR on outstanding issues related to separation of staff.
  • Review the contributory period and prepare separation notification (PF4).

5. Participate and contribute to Special Projects

  • Contribute to Special Projects by providing inputs and ideas.
  • Actively participate in the implementation of special projects.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
  • Completion of secondary education (i.e. high school diploma) is a minimum requirement.
  • University level courses in human resources, finance or business administration are desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in payroll with secondary education (without university degree) is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in payroll for candidates holding Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in finance, economics, administration or related field.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll processes and entitlements is required.
  • Strong knowledge of HR and Payroll systems, including SAP is required.
  • Strong data analytical skills are required.
  • Proven initiative, proactivity and ability to work independently are required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Work experience with a development organization is an asset.
  • Knowledge of UN/UNICEF’S rules, regulations and procedures is an asset.
  • Work experience in shared service center context is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is a strong asset.
  • A good team player.
  • High on integrity and values.
