Job Summary:

The Knowledge Associate will work in the Knowledge Exchange department of FHI 360 and support cross-organizational efforts to enhance knowledge sharing and collaboration as well as being the main communication arm of knowledge exchange. The Knowledge Associate will support the Knowledge Exchange department in all services and functions and will provide higher-level administrative support on XK functions and services. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports, compiling records, organizing, and maintaining files, posting information, and conducting outreach and training on our internal systems and capabilities.

The XK department oversees company knowledge management and efforts to improve staff use of information, coordinates staff communities of practice, and directs the library.

The preferable location is either NC or DC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the gathering of program descriptions in our internal system via background research and Project Director interviews, and other outreach
  • Summarizes and assesses findings from interviews and program activities for sharing with a wider audience
  • Assists in the preparation and production of guidance documentation, reports, presentations, and other documents
  • Collect and monitor metrics on social impact and information completeness
  • Supports communities of practice to advance FHI 360 technical leadership, knowledge generation and sharing, and other strategic and operational objectives
  • Champions facilitates and builds awareness and capacity in organizational policies, procedures, initiatives, and frameworks among internal clients
  • Promotes knowledge-sharing, project management, and quality assurance best practices and processes in the organization, often by championing specific initiatives (e.g., facilitating communities of practice, organizing knowledge-sharing events, training, and other capacity-building events)
  • Develops and maintains close ties with the IDC team and FHI 360 projects and promotes their priorities within communities of practice, etc
  • Plans and coordinates outreach, communication, and knowledge-sharing activities such as data drives, events, seminars, and training
  • Responds to requests and ad hoc needs for business development purposes, e.g., proposal support, CPARS, Past Performance References, etc
  • Researches and promotes collaboration tools, approaches, and technology that enhance sharing of ideas and experiences among internal teams and external partners; coordinates closely with management to develop and implement knowledge management approaches to meet the needs of the organization
  • Provides knowledge-sharing direction, coaching, and guidance to project teams
  • Serves as an active member of KX’s team in implementing operational initiatives, goals, and objectives
  • Performs other duties assigned

Education and Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or it’s equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Knowledge Management, International Development, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of knowledge management, communication, or related experience
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Master’s degree or 2 years of knowledge management tools and systems experience preferred
