The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the global forum for intellectual property (IP) services, policy, information, and cooperation, is looking for qualified professionals wishing to contribute to its distinctive mission of making IP work for everyone.

Intellectual property has gained enormously in importance in recent decades for the economies of nations, regions, and the world as a whole. At the same time, information technology has moved at the heart of these economies, as most modern-day industrial production and commercial transactions are now highly dependent on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and platforms.

ICT also lies at the core of WIPO’s execution of its mandate and conditions various dimensions of its work. It has evolved into the primary means for WIPO to deliver its services, and it permits those services to distinguish themselves from other avenues for seeking intellectual property protection at the global level.

In view of the central role of ICT at WIPO, a significant portion of recruitment relates to IT roles, representing on average close to 30% of the Organization’s professional vacancies annually.

WIPO Talent Pools

The Talent Pool – Information Technology serves to ensure a pipeline of externally qualified candidates for Professional and higher category posts in both programmatic and support areas, for profiles that are regularly recruited for and/or difficult to fill.

How do the Talent Pools work?

  • The Talent Pools are open year-round to enable professionals to express their interest in employment with WIPO in a particular domain. The expressions of interest received will be reviewed by our recruiters with a view to:
  • Contacting qualified professionals regarding vacancies that match their profile
  • Sourcing candidates for temporary opportunities
  • Information Technology (IT) Profile
  • If you are an IT professional with an advanced university degree and a minimum of 4 years of working experience (6 years with a first-level university degree) in the IT arena, we would like to hear from you.

Annual salary:

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the December 2021 rate of 82.5%.
