How can you make a difference?

The Emergency Cone embarked on a project that will eventually improve workforce mapping and sourcing in humanitarian contexts.

Under the daily supervision of the HR Specialist and the overall guidance of the HR Sourcing Lead, the intern is expected to:

  • Support the development and production of communication materials (e.g., articles, banner ads, graphic illustrations) as part of the Emergencies Cone’s outreach and sourcing strategy.
  • Create and edit short-form educational video content and animated graphics to communicate the Emergencies Cone policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Support in the ideation and production of podcasts.
  • Draft, design, and edit newsletters, human interest stories, call-to-action messages for web-based channels.
  • Recommend and implement various strategies to promote the reach of communication materials to target audiences.
  • Ensure that all portals (Intranet, websites, SharePoint Drives, etc.) are updated with the latest reports and content.
  • Contribute to the preparation, development, and execution of marketing and branding campaigns and sourcing events.
  • Support the coordination and planning of HR Capacities Building events – such as webinars and network meetings for the Global HR in Emergencies Community
  • Perform other duties as required.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will…

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree program, or have graduated within the past two years.
  • Have a first-level university degree in communications and/or related fields.
  • Excellent English drafting skills are required.
  • Experience with social media content and strategies is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; solid knowledge of video editing including the use of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, Audition) or other graphic design tools is an asset. Excellent knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Ability to work independently and complete projects on or ahead of time
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset.
