INTERN – Training and Advanced Education

JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is located in the INTERN – Training and Advanced Education Programme (TAE) of UNICRI. The TAE specifically addresses one of the core missions of UNICRI through the design and implementation of training programmes on matters related to crime prevention and criminal justice. In particular, the INTERN – Training and Advanced EducationProgramme has developed a wide number of post-graduate programmes (including academic curricular at Master level and specialized short courses) and tailor-made capacity-building professional training at the request of the Member States, judicial institutions, and international organizations.
The INTERN – Training and Advanced Education for an initial period of 2 months. Preferable start date: mid-January 2022, with an opportunity of an extension up to a total period of six months. The Internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the programme, project, or unit to which they are assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  •  Support the organization and implementation of the residential phase of the LL.M. in Transnational Crime and Justice as well as other training activities organized within the framework of the TAE Programme;
  •  Collect, file and draft analysis of the official evaluations submitted by the participants of the training activities;
  •  Provide inputs and assist in implementing the advertising strategy for the upcoming post-graduate programmes and short courses, including the next edition of the LL.M. in Transnational Crime;
  •  Draft reports, PowerPoint presentations and other documents related to the activities of the TAE Programme;
  •  Maintain up-to-date filing system of project documents;
  •  Draft correspondence;
  •  Perform other duties upon request.

EDUCATION

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Be a post-graduate student.
  • Preferable fields of study: law, political science, international relations, criminology, psychology, communication/external relations or other related fields.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  •  Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  •  Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • No working experience is required to apply for the INTERN – Training and Advanced Education. Your training, education, advanced course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

LANGUAGES

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
